Biographie
Dmitrij Gornowskij | Violoncello
With a powerful tone, refined sense of style, and exceptional stage presence, Dmitrij Gornowskij has been captivating international audiences for many years. Born in Kazakhstan, the cellist now lives in Düsseldorf, where he pursues a versatile career as a soloist, chamber musician, producer, and lecturer.
Chamber music forms a particular focus of his artistic work. Since 2005, he has performed with pianist Amir Tebenikhin as part of the Almati Duo, with whom he has released several CD recordings. Together, they are currently preparing new recordings of the cello sonatas by Beethoven and Brahms. As a soloist, Dmitrij has appeared with orchestras such as the Chamber Philharmonic Cologne, the Dortmund Philharmonic, and the Symphony Orchestra of India.
His repertoire ranges from Bach to contemporary music, with a special affinity for the Russian cello sonatas of Rachmaninov and Myaskovsky. Concert tours have taken him across Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America. In the 2025/26 season, he will appear with the Frank Quintet, the Darnea Baroque Quartet, and the Chamber Philharmonic Cologne, among others.
In addition to his concert activity, he produces recordings in his Düsseldorf studio, gives masterclasses, and is committed to supporting young talent. Dmitrij plays an Italian cello from the 18th century — a gift from his father.
Projekts
I design and perform diverse concert programs that combine music from different periods and styles. From German Romanticism to 20th–21st-century works, each event offers a unique musical experience — solo or in collaboration with other artists. Every program invites the audience on a poetic and vibrant journey of discovery.

Concerts
Dmitrij Gornowskij performs a wide range of programs — from chamber evenings and solo recitals to collaborations with orchestra.
His repertoire includes music of the German Romantics and the Russian masters of the 20th century, as well as contemporary works and his own arrangements.
Each concert is a living dialogue, in which music unfolds through atmosphere, space, and shared breath with the audience.

Dmitrij Gornowskij presents his media projects: audio recordings, concert and studio videos, photo albums from rehearsals and performances, as well as arrangements for cello with ensemble and string orchestra.
Each project conveys the atmosphere of the music, the interaction with partners and audience, while the arrangements reveal new sounds of the works, preserving the original artistic intent.
