ALMATIDUO
The Almati Duo was founded in 2005 by internationally acclaimed musicians cellist Dmitrij Gornowskij and pianist Amir Tebenikhin. They have been, for over 15 years, delighting their audiences with beautiful music. Friendship and art have connected the two compatriots from Kazakhstan's former capital Almaty, together. The principal goal of the Almati Duo is to give everyone the most beautiful pieces of music. They perform various compositions for cello and piano from all styles and epochs: from Bach to the romantic pieces by Chopin and Frank and from Beethoven sonatas to deeply dramatic works by Shostakovich and Schnittke. The Almati Duo has performed in international music festivals in Europe and Asia to great critical acclaim. Their further accomplishments include performing in a series of well received concerts in Leipzig, Bonn and Frankfurt am Main for the Rachmaninov Festival, including an exclusive concert for the Rachmaninov Society in 2016. In 2017 in Neumarkt, Germany, they also performed a stunning rendition of the Beethoven Triple Concerto with violinist Ernis Asanaliev. They have recorded and produced several CD's containing the Sonatas of Beethoven and Brahms, Shostakovich and Prokofiev, Rachmaninov and Myaskovsky. In November 2020, the Almati Duo recorded a CD of music by the modern composer David Lewiston Sharpe. This CD, titled 'Capriccio' and recorded with violinist Hayley Bullock, features the world premiere of his music for cello, piano and violin.
